Welcome to Abundant Kitchen a-Go-Go! Now you can order premium meals for take home!

All meals are made of high quality, fresh, seasonal ingredients. I am working to incorporate as many organic and local products as possible.  These are weeknight meals: simple, satisfying and healthful. Meals are completely cooked and cooled for your safety and convenience. All you need do is heat and enjoy. Many meals are freezer friendly so you can stock up whenever you want. And, why not order extra meals for your lunches?

BI-WEEKLY SCHEDULE
A new menu is posted every other Friday. Orders are due by the following Monday and meals are freshly prepared and ready for pick-up on Wednesday.

ABUNDANT KITCHEN A-GO-GO LOCATION
We are easy to find and centrally located in the kitchen of The First Congregational United Church of Christ, 9th and Francis. There is ample parking on 9th street right in front of the church, near the intersection of 9th and Francis. Follow the sidewalk into the church courtyard and go to the side door of the church. You will find yourself in a big hall in front of the kitchen. We'll be waiting for you there! Click here for a map: UCC

e_scanlon@comcast.net if you need assistance, especially those who use a wheelchair, crutches, or have difficulty walking and those who have small children in the car. The church is accessible, but we are happy to bring your order curbside.

INGREDIENTS
I am concerned about the humane treatment of animals and as such buy meats and dairy/egg products from ranchers and farmers who treat livestock humanely. I welcome your suggestions for suppliers.

Of course, I also am concerned about my customers' well-being! Organic and local are best and I purchase items accordingly when possible (I use the shopper's guide to pesticides as a resource). I visit the markets in season, "shop the perimeter" of the grocery stores, and avoid "food-like products" with high fructose corn syrup, synthetic sugars, trans fat and ingredients even a scientist couldn't pronounce.

A NOTE ABOUT FOOD ALLERGIES
If you have food allergies, please contact me prior to ordering at
e_scanlon@comcast.net and I can give you the entire list of ingredients in any dish you are interested in. Please note though, while some dishes may have no offending ingredients listed, I do cook in a kitchen where food allergens may be present.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Unfortunately, "take out food" is nearly synonymous with waste. There is a plethora of take out containers, lids, bags. Recyclable? Biodegradable? Reusable? Paper? Plastic? Sugarcane? Corn? It could make a person crazy.

I am lucky to be cooking in the licensed kitchen of a zero-waste facility. As such, there is very little trash from a day of cooking. In addition to the recycling bin, commercial composting is available for food scraps, paper towels, and paper board. 

For containers, I use recyclable, reusable containers for now. (I'm keeping my eye on biodegradables--especially since the city plans to begin a pilot organic composting program in 2010!) The containers are freezable, microwaveable and dishwasher safe and are very durable so that you may reuse
them. The labels are removable--just take them off before microwaving. For bags, I use reusable, recyclable plastic bags, which are made in the U.S. of recycled materials. They will not leak and are designed to hold containers without tipping over. Of course, please feel free to bring your own bags.
