What is the difference between a personal chef and a private chef?
A private chef is an employee of one individual or family on a full-time basis. Typically, she lives with the family and cooks up to three meals a day for them. A personal chef is a small business owner who serves several clients, usually one per day, and provides multiple meals that are customized for each client's requests and requirements. These meals are packaged and stored so the clients may enjoy them at their leisure.
Do you cook in my kitchen?
You have two options. I can prepare your meals in your own kitchen. On our agreed-upon cook date, I will bring fresh ingredients for your meals along with my own pans and utensils and prepare your entrees on site. At the end of the day, I will leave your kitchen clean and filled with the aroma of home cooking. If you prefer, I can cook at a licensed kitchen and deliver your meals to you. There is an extra fee for delivery, for the kitchen rental.
How long will you be here?
If I cook in your kitchen, it will be several hours, usually between four and seven. I'll be cooking several entrees and side dishes from scratch, so it does take time. I can work around your schedule and we can make arrangements in advance so that the cooking date is compatable with your schedule.
Do I need to be here when you are cooking?
That is completely up to you. Some of my clients are home during the cookdate; some clients I seldom see. If you will not be home, we'll make arrangements so that I can get into your house on the day of the cookdate.
Do I heat the food?
Yes. Any entrees that have been stored in your freezer should be defrosted overnight in your refrigerator and then heated so you can enjoy them at the peak of their flavor. I will leave easy-to-follow heating instructions for each meal.
How much refrigerator/freezer space do you need?
It depends on the number of meals you request and the size of the containers. We can look at your space together and determine about how much I will need. After the cooking date, you will feel as though you truly have an "Abundant Kitchen" when you look in your fridge and/or freezer!
What kinds of side dishes do you prepare?
I prepare sides that complete the entrees you have selected. Taking into account your preferences, I consider textures, color and compatable flavors to create perfectly balanced meals.
What if I want additional side dishes?
Absolutely! You may order extra sides or extra servings for an additional cost. Please ask for a quote.
When do I pay you; what forms of payment do you accept.
I take cash or personal check. Credit cards are accepted through paypal.com. Payment is due on the day I cook.
